So originally I requested this on NetGalley but failed to download it before it was archived, so I missed out there. However, I still really wanted to read it so I went out and purchased the solid hardcover version of this. And I love it!
Honestly, at first I thought it was going to be a bit of a modern twist of the Prince and the Pauper. Nope. Not at all. Here is the description that managed to draw me in;
“Lottie Pumpkin is an ordinary girl who longs to be a princess, attending Rosewood Hall on a scholarship. Ellie Wolf is a princess who longs to be ordinary, attending Rosewood Hall to avoid her royal duties in the kingdom of Maradova. When fate puts the two fourteen-year-olds in the same dorm, it seems like a natural solution to swap identities: after all, everyone mistakenly believes Lottie to be the princess anyway. But someone’s on to their secret, and at Rosewood nothing is ever as it seems…”
This is so much more than just two girls swapping lives, any I really don’t want to give too much away but trust me, it isn’t a simple as it all seems. All I can really say is that there is action, adventure, and betrayal and a whole heap of questions.
The story is not just well written, it is enchanting and captivating. The characters have such a great depth to them and while I was reading this I truly felt connected to them and understood them. Connie Glynn has creating such an incredible world where things just aren’t as simple as they seem. It is amazing.
Now, this isn’t the only book for our adventurous Lottie and Ellie, oh no, the second instalment is due out closer to the end of the year. Princess in Practice, the next book in the Rosewood Chronicles, a book that is already on my wish list and one that I will certainly be getting the moment I can!
I can see teen girls and young adult girls all over the place falling for this book and it’s charms. Princesses, fairytales and a whole lot of adventure. I loved it and really do recommend it!
5 out of 5 stars!
